Mais oui. 🇫🇷🍾

Honestly, before visiting the Champagne region ourselves, we expected:

  • beautiful vineyards
  • some nice champagne tastings
  • cute French towns

But what we didn’t expect was how relaxing, aesthetic and surprisingly luxurious the entire region would actually feel.

From underground cellars beneath Reims to sunny champagne terraces in Épernay - this trip ended up becoming one of our favorite luxury getaways in Europe.

And yes:
Visiting Champagne in 2026 is absolutely worth it.

Reims - The Capital of Champagne

Most people think of Paris when they think about luxury travel in France.

But honestly?
Reims might be one of France’s most underrated destinations.

The city is located only around 45 minutes from Paris by high-speed train, which makes it incredibly easy to visit for a weekend trip.

And as soon as you arrive, you’ll notice:

  • elegant beige stone buildings
  • French cafĂ©s everywhere
  • relaxed streets
  • beautiful architecture

Parts of Reims honestly feel like a calmer and cleaner version of Paris.

Of course, there are also famous landmarks like the Notre-Dame Cathedral of Reims, where French kings were historically crowned.

But let’s be honest:
Most people come here for one thing.

Champagne.

One Important Tip before you Go

If you’re planning to visit the big champagne houses like:

  • Veuve Clicquot
  • Ruinart
  • Dom PĂ©rignon
  • MoĂ«t & Chandon

book your tours in advance.

Seriously.

Especially during spring and summer, the most popular tours and tastings sell out surprisingly fast.

And the bigger maisons often only have limited slots available per day.

Some houses allow you to simply stop by for a glass of champagne at the bar or terrace, but for:

  • cellar tours
  • guided experiences
  • special tastings
  • vintage tastings

you usually need a reservation beforehand.

And honestly, nothing would be worse than arriving in Champagne and realizing the tours are already fully booked.

Final Verdict - Is Champagne Worth Visiting in 2026?

Absolutely.

Whether you love:

  • luxury travel
  • wine
  • architecture
  • food
  • aesthetics
  • French lifestyle
  • quiet luxury

the Champagne region offers such a unique mix of all of it.

Santé. 🍾
